The Lattice dishcloth pattern stitch reminds me of the white lattice my grandpa and grandma had as a border for their vegetable garden and flower beds. A little bit of family history for those that LOVE to be “In The Know”. 🙂 During the depression, my grandparents not only had 12 children to feed but helped to feed the entire neighborhood. They worked such a large garden they invited the neighbors to share their “wealth”.
True story…… While working as a Home Care nurse back in my hometown one of my patients was a very young lady of “101” years. When she read my name tag she asked if I was the granddaughter of Charles and Elsie, to which I gave a resounding, Yes! Long story short…She was one of the neighbors that was blessed by the love and generosity of my grandparents. It seems that when we bless others that love just ripples through time.
Because of those sweet memories, I chose the Lattice pattern stitch to knit up a few dishcloths to use as a gift topper on my niece’s bridal shower gift. I decided to write out the story and include it with her gift to pass along a bit of family history. Who knows, maybe someday she will have the opportunity to bless one of her neighbors.
Materials I used:
Lily/Sugar’n Cream. Color – #00084/Sage green – 1 skein. Size US6 (4mm) knitting needles.
17sts/4″ in the stitch pattern. Pattern repeat included as well.
♥ As are all my knitting patterns; this pattern has been test knit twice and both professionally copy and tech edited for accuracy.
I am happy to help. You can always contact me if you have any questions along the way.
