Claudia’s Fair Isle Hat
Claudia’s Fair Isle Hat is the sister hat to Alex’s Fair Isle Hat. A bit of a stretch but there you go. As you read in Alex’s Fair Isle Hat pattern description you are aware his hat was designed for a guy desiring a fair isle hat using “Black” yarn. When Claudia first saw Alex wearing his new hat it didn’t take long before she called me and asked for a hat of her own. Thinking she would choose purple, pink or even blue I was very surprised when she told me she wanted her fair isle hat to be worked up in the same colors as Alex’s, but the colors reversed. Claudia said, “I like the patterns on Alex’s hat but I would like something a little more ‘girlie’ please.”
After speaking with Claudia I spent that particular evening browsing through a few stitch dictionary books. I know right away which pattern stitch I was using to design her hat. I hit a home run; Claudia loves her new fair Isle hat. After all what girl doesn’t love flowers? How much more ‘girlie’ can you get?
Materials I used:
Cascade Yarns/220 Superwash; 100% Superwash Wool.
Color MC: #892/Space Needle, CC: #815/Black – 1 skein each.
Size US6 (4mm) 16″ (40cm) circular needle.
2 Size US7 (4.5mm) 16″ (40cm) circular needles- or size needed to get gauge.
You will need to divide the stitches between the 2 circular needles when the stitches start
to stretch too tight around the needle.
Stitch Markers: 5.
20sts and 28 rounds = 4″ (10cm) in St st worked in rounds on larger size needle.
♥As are all my knitting patterns; this pattern has been test knit twice and both professionally copy and tech edited for accuracy.
