CLAUDIA’S BULKY SLOUCHY HAT
I designed “Claudia’s Bulky Slouchy Hat” for my Niece Claudia.
This past fall Claudia headed off to one of the best Universities the great state of Michigan has to offer.
Michigan is my favorite place in the world. Because I was born and raised there, with the majority of my family and friends reside to this day it holds a big place in my heart. There is no end to what she has to offer. Golf courses to die for, thrilling water sports, spectacular campgrounds and beyond words to describe the autumn show of leaves. With that said, Michigan is known for the bitterly cold winds and freezing temperatures during the long winter months. But, I don’t care. There are plenty of winter activities to keep one happy.

Whether you live in MI or just plan to visit, there are so many fun things to enjoy. From sled dog racing too, my fave, the Cherry Festival near Traverse City! For your reading pleasure check out this informative article I found 50 Best Things to Do in Michigan.
I Digress
With that said, Heavy class schedules require many a University student to walk from one building to the next in that nasty weather. I wanted to design something to both keep Claudia warm and frame her pretty face. Claudia prefers shades of grey and black so, I set out to my LYS to find the perfect yarn. It didn’t take long until I found “my” yarn. The colors are perfect and with the variation of black, grey and white I was smitten. I knew the yarn was perfect for Claudia’s bulky slouchy hat but still; there was something missing. Straight away I knew what it needed…Black. There was a fair amount of black in the yarn but I wanted it to dominate. Cascade Yarns/Sateen adds just a touch of sheen and brings the design up a notch on the “fabulous” scale. I chose Color:#04/Black.
Each day of class Claudia grabs her hat, tucks her long hair up and heads out the front doors of the dorm but, not until she wraps the matching cowl around her neck. It warms my heart to know I had just a slice of her college years. Keeping her warm and loved as she heads off into her future.
To compliment Claudia’s hat check out: Claudia’s Bulky Cowl.
