Baby Blanket Chevron
The Baby Blanket Chevron has to be the favorite baby blanket I have ever designed. Not only is there an amazing story behind its creation but the stitch pattern is just fabulous!
One afternoon I received a phone call from my Niece Marci asking me to pray for a friend’s baby boy. I asked Marci if there was anything, in particular, I should focus my prayer on? She told me he was having Open Heart surgery the next week. Since I myself have had a few of the same, Marci knew I would understand and get on my knees as soon as possible.
After an evening in prayer, I asked the Lord if there was anything I could do to comfort the baby and his parents? I believe the Lord blesses each one of us with certain gifts and expects us to bless others with those gifts. With that in the mind, I set out to find an amazing stitch pattern and design a baby blanket his parents could wrap him in to keep him warm and cuddled in love.
I have always been partial to all things chevron so this was a no-brainer. Going with the chevron stitch pattern and choosing two beautiful colors I got busy with my yarn and knitting needles. Soon after, the baby blanket was complete! I took the blanket to my parish and after it was blessed by my parish priest the baby blanket, along with a heartfelt letter, was mailed!
The surgery was a success and he is doing well! I thank the Lord frequently for this little one and for blessing me with the gift of knitting. I feel honored I was able to use my gift to bless another.
